History of the AICR Qatar
Our AICR Qatar chapter has been on such an interesting journey since its beginning in November 2015.
Our Executive Committee had the pleasure to start the first chapter of this long adventure with the establishment of our AICR Association section for the first time in Qatar thanks to the wilfulness and the vision of our former President Mr Ahmed Kamel.
Over the last three years our AICR Qatar session has seen so many achievements:
- Able to represent Qatar in our previous ROTY 2016 in Vienna, in Paris in 2017 and in Zurich in 2018
- Our ROTY 2018, Ms Pamela Munzara won 2nd runner up globally
- Our community has grown so fast from 15 members in 2015 up to almost 50 active members in 2018
- The reputation and the great results of the previous years brought our AICR Qatar chapter to be fully sponsored and supported by our National Tourism Council (NTC)
As every association, with the passage of time and with all the changes within our hectic, hotelier market, AICR Qatar session put another stone mile along the way.
In July 2018 the crown moved, with great pride, from Mr Ahmed Kamel, Director of Rooms in InterContinental Doha the City to Mr Kerolos Habib, Director of Rooms in Marsa Malaz Kempinski. Mr Kerolos has been a strong column in our AICR Qatar Chapter since the very beginning covering different positions all over the years: he started as our Web Master, then Events Coordinator and Vice President last year before he had the honour to become our new AICR Qatar President.
With energy, passion, positivity and long vision, Mr Kerolos has reviewed and reshuffled the Executive Committee consists of the following:
VP & Events & ROTY – Bassem Ekramallah;
Membership & Treasurer – Patrizia Pellegrini;
Sponsorship – Maia Metreveli;
Social Media – Annabelle Gutermuth & Yasser Ahmed;
Development & Education – Christina Oehler & Hamza Moukarram (training & development).
With his new team, Mr Kerolos started an excited and successful preparation for Receptionist of the Year 2019 which ended over last week, on Sunday 11th November, announcing the winner, Ms Joera Kitane from Marriott Marquis City Center in the enchanting atmosphere of Venezia Ballroom at Marsa Malaz Kempinski.
Along the path there is another important, global event to be planned with the commitment of Mr Kerolos and his Committee: our International Congress in 2021 in Qatar which will set the standards and the presence of our AICR Qatar session on a higher level within our International community.
Our Amicale has been always a meaningful connection among countries, not only through a professional organization but based on a life-long fraternity among members and our AICR Qatar session strongly believes in our common vision. With Mr Kerolos new guidance, our chapter will take the challenge onboard to show how a small community can do a lot for our International welfare.
