President AICR Austria // Front Office Manager - InterContinental Vienna
Since I left the Kindergarten I was interested in the hospitality industry. My grandparents run a restaurant in Vienna and my mother used to work for them. Serving guests and make them happy was a passion I grew up with. During schooldays I started to work in restaurants and bars already. After my graduation I worked a short period in a travel agency but I realized that a nine-to-five job did not make me happy. 2008 I had the option to start as an Instant Service Center Clerk at the InterContinentalVienna, a few days passed and I knew that I am at the right place. Every day a new experience, new people and great colleagues are just a few of the reasons why a Hotel like the InterContinental Vienna is the best place to work. Climbing up the ladder I finally made it up to Front Office Manager and I have this position since beginning of 2015. In 2013 I joined the AICR Vienna and was a quiet member of this fabulous association. After getting more comfortable with my position at work I started to be a more active part of the AICR Vienna. When Hani El-Sharkawi asked in 2014 who would like to help organising the international Congress 2016 in Vienna I was hooked. Since them I am more than happy to be part of this great association.
Vice President AICR Austria // Front Office Manager- Sofitel Vienna
I stumbled into hospitality by accident. After having received vocational training as industrial management assistant in Germany, I took up a part-time position as Night Auditor at a hotel in Duisburg, Germany. Being a keen traveler myself, I have learnt to love the hospitality business over the years – advancing to a full-time Auditor, then Night Manager, Assistant Front Office Manager and Front Office Manager, currently preparing for my next career step. I have spent more than two thirds of my time in the industry in Vienna – first at the very classic Grand Hotel Wien, then at the strikingly modern Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom. I am still surprised every day by the ever-changing face of hospitality in our world and truly believe that working in this magical industry is one of the most fascinating things one can do. Being nominated and elected Vice President of AICR Austria is a great honour to me – I am proud to be part of this organization of unique talents.
Teasurer AICR Austria // Cluster General Manager Fourside Hotels
I have been in the hospitality since 1989, with a few breaks in between, thinking that other industries might be "better". With advanced age, I have to admit that I simply love being surrounded by colleagues and guests and having the joyful delight of having a vast variety of tasks on a daily, even hourly basis. I joined AICR Austria in 2004 and took over the treasury from our longest serving AICR member, Andreas Plischke-Delabro in 2009. Hospitality is my world, AICR is much more than a networking platform to me, it is a possibility of being surrounded by professionals who share the same passion - the wellbeing of our guests, regardless of city, country, hotel or brand.
1st Secretary AICR Austria // Front Office Manager Radisson Style Vienna
Throughout my education in secondary school I made my first steps in the tourism industry sector while working at numerous events. Also I had been lucky enough to enjoy several internship programs in Vienna as well as abroad. Due to my personal interest in this industry I decided to start a professional education. After I finished a 2 year colleague in the tourism school MODUL with a diploma of hospitality and tourism, I started working as a management trainee in the independently owned 5* boutique hotel Sans Souci Wien. I was going through different departments and stopped at my favourite one – the front desk. After almost 3 years, I wanted to get a deeper insight and expand my experience in other sectors, therefore I decided to apply for a big chain. I started working for the boutique hotel Radisson Blu, where I was at first responsible for the reservation and banquet department. I realised that my true desire is the personal guest contact and that is why I took the challenge and moved internal into the position of the front office manager since the beginning of 2017. I am persuaded to have the unconditional passion, the patience, the ambition and the motivation, this industry takes. I am looking forward to collecting future value experience and broaden my mind.
2nd Secretary i/c of social media AICR Austria // Hilton Garden Inn Vienna
I started my professional career in hospitality management in 1999. I had the great chance to collect substantial experience in many areas in hotel business. Even after so many years in the industry, the work still gives me a lot of pleasure, because there are always new challenges. I have developed strong competences in Front Office, Reservation, Conferences & Events, Customer Relationship, Quality Management and Accounting. I have worked in several four and five star properties, boutique hotels and big chains. Since November 2016, I am Front of House Manager at the Renaissance Hotel. I joined AICR at the beginning of 2014 and became part of the committee in January 2016. I hope that I can inspire and support others by being a part of AICR and sharing my passion for this industry.
