Thank you Kevin Daly for presenting the AICR leadership certification to the Austrian members! We really enjoyed the presentation and the training!
Committee Members Austria
I started my career in hospitality more or less by accident in London as a Switchboard Operator at the Grosvenor Hotel. An 8 week internship turned into 14 wonderful months as a receptionist in this beautiful city. After returning to Austria in October 2009, I started as a receptionist at the InterContinental Hotel Vienna. One year later I got nominated to participate in the Receptionist of the Year Competition. I was very lucky, as I won the competition and two months later I went all the way to New Zealand to take part in the international competition and left this wonderful congress as the 1st runner-up. I continued my career with the InterContinental Hotels Group until I became Assistant Front Office Manager at the IC Davos, Switzerland. I then returned to Austria and took over the Front Office Manager position at the Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof where I currently work. At the same time I was elected to be the president of the Austrian AICR section. I owe so much to the AICR and I have no doubt that my career path would have been a different one without AICR. I am very grateful and proud to be part of this international and unique family.
Since I left the Kindergarten I was interested in the hospitality industry. My grandparents run a restaurant in Vienna and my mother used to work for them. Serving guests and make them happy was a passion I grew up with. During schooldays I started to work in restaurants and bars already. After my graduation I worked a short period in a travel agency but I realized that a nine-to-five job did not make me happy. 2008 I had the option to start as an Instant Service Center Clerk at the InterContinentalVienna, a few days passed and I knew that I am at the right place. Every day a new experience, new people and great colleagues are just a few of the reasons why a Hotel like the InterContinental Vienna is the best place to work. Climbing up the ladder I finally made it up to Front Office Manager and I have this position since beginning of 2015. In 2013 I joined the AICR Vienna and was a quiet member of this fabulous association. After getting more comfortable with my position at work I started to be a more active part of the AICR Vienna. When Hani El-Sharkawi asked in 2014 who would like to help organising the international Congress 2016 in Vienna I was hooked. Together with the best national President Doris Schwarz I am the Vice President of the Austrian section since 2015 and I am looking forward to many more interesting years to come.
I have been in the hospitality since 1989, with a few breaks in between, thinking that other industries might be "better". With advanced age, I have to admit that I simply love being surrounded by colleagues and guests and having the joyful delight of having a vast variety of tasks on a daily, even hourly basis. I joined AICR Austria in 2004 and took over the treasury from our longest serving AICR member, Andreas Plischke-Delabro in 2009. Hospitality is my world, AICR is much more than a networking platform to me, it is a possibility of being surrounded by professionals who share the same passion - the wellbeing of our guests, regardless of city, country, hotel or brand.
At some point in my life, knew I wanted to work in hotels so I started my career at the Radisson BLU Leipzig almost 10 years ago. After 3 years, I moved to Cardiff, UK and again around 3 years later to Vienna, Austria where I worked at different hotels always seeking the possibility to grow and improve. I have now been Front Office Manager at the Intercity Hotel Vienna for 3 years. This position has allowed me join AICR Austria. In 2015, one year after joining the association, I was voted into the committee as secretary and I was also a proud member of the organizing committee of the AICR Congress 2016 in Vienna. As I´m enjoying being part of this association and truly loved meeting the congress participants in Vienna, there is no doubt in my mind about my further commitment to AICR.

I started my professional career in hospitality management in 1999. I had the great chance to collect substantial experience in many areas in hotel business. Even after so many years in the industry, the work still gives me a lot of pleasure, because there are always new challenges. I have developed strong competences in Front Office, Reservation, Conferences & Events, Customer Relationship, Quality Management and Accounting. I have worked in several four and five star properties, boutique hotels and big chains. Since November 2016, I am Front of House Manager at the Renaissance Hotel. I joined AICR at the beginning of 2014 and became part of the committee in January 2016. I hope that I can inspire and support others by being a part of AICR and sharing my passion for this industry.
